A mental health podcast, conversing with brave sisters in our community.

InshaAllah, it will pass. It always does. One day, the troubles roiling our minds will be history. But for many, it is not forgotten easily.

For a long time, we pretend to cope well enough with tragedy. We get up every morning, we give pleasant summaries to our family, we smile over dinner. But inside, we are ruminating, pondering, attacking ourselves for things we have done and not done, paying attention to the insinuations of shaytaan saying that we are evil and sick, hence stuck in the worst. We become experts in not feeling sorry for ourselves.

But the one ingredient on which any recovery from serious mental illness depends on is, namely love. Whether from a friend, a partner, an offspring, a parent โ€“ love has an string power to rescue us from mental illness.

๐Ÿ’• About our Heart To Heart Podcast

Heart to Heart is an unfiltered mental health podcast for sisters that shines a light on connection. It is part of our 'Letters from the Soul' project. The Podcast is intended to be a safe, personal space, where we reach out to the women in our community, near and far, to speak up about their emotional journeys, reflections, and share inspirational stories with one another. Our aim is to offer practical guidance on lasting mental health, to embrace sisterhood, making it an educational must-listen for all.

The episodes will be on themed topics and sisters can speak about their experiences or share personal stories, read out poems, notes, etc. related to the theme.

โš˜ Guest Speakers & Counsellors

A tight-knit support group for women, wherein we hope to learn and take inspiration from each other, while sharing beneficial reminders, it will also serve as a means to connect the community with Muslim Mental Health Coaches/ Islamic Counsellors, ย who will be a part of the podcast, facilitating the conversation.

๐ŸŒฟ Counselling Services

Through these Podcasts, Arriqaaq intends to spark meaningful conversations, and encourage our sisters to share their stories, so that we can together break the stigma surrounding mental health and highlight the importance of emotional well-being in our community. By acquiring the support of Counsellors and Muslim mental health coaches through this platform, we will also in shaa Allah, facilitate counselling sessions, fee sabeelillah, to sisters who are suffering silently, and have no means to seek counselling support.*

Note: These Podcasts will be LIVE, women-only, with NO RECORDING.

No direct counselling will take place during the podcasts.

๐Ÿ’” About the Podcast Theme [#1 LOSS]

And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient. (2:155)

Allah tells us in the Qur'an that we will be tested. But it is also important that we ย understand that feeling pain upon being stricken with a calamity, or grieving the loss of a loved one, does not equate to showing ingratitude to Allah or being discontent with His Decree. Rather, these feelings are what makes us truly internalize how much we need Allah and His Guidance. Allah guides us to then make dua'a, because in our most emotional, vulnerable state, the most heartfelt of dua'as are made. At our lowest, it is the closest we feel to our Rabb.
